Rajmah Turkey Chili

  • 1 lb ground turkey (99% fat free)
  • 1 package rajmah
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup fresh ginger, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes (14.5 oz)
  • 1 can of red kidney beans, drained (30 oz)
  • 1 green chili, chopped
  • 1 can of tomato sauce

The rajmah reminded me of chili, but with an Indian kick. The problem was the vegetarian recipe wasn’t filling for a gluttonous carnivore like myself. So, I decided to try my own version and added some ground turkey. The result was terrific, and the dish definitely fills me up, and ends up providing left-overs for the next couple of days. Some of my ingredients are canned just to speed things up, but my recipe is:

Heat oil in a deep saucepan over medium heat for 1 minute. Add ginger, garlic, onion, and green chili, and let sizzle until onions turn golden. Add ground turkey, and heat until cooked through. Then follow the remaining cooking directions on the package. Enjoy!
